The Brother MFC-J6945DW Printer is a light to medium duty all-rounder inkjet printer perfect for home and office use. It can only print, scan, and fax tabloid-size pages and has a generous paper-input capacity. It prints more or less well and at a very marginal cost per page.

It measures about 14.9 x 22.6 x 18.8 inches (HWD) and weighs around 53.1 pounds. The Epson model supports both tabloid-size (11×17-inch) media and also super-tabloid (13×19-inch) paper.

The MFC-J6945DW’s paper capacity is around 600 sheets, divided between two 250-sheet drawers in the front and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray on the rear. All three auto-duplexing paper sources support tabloid-size sheets, so does the 50-sheet single-pass duplexing automatic document feeder (ADF). It comes with a maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 30,000 pages, with a monthly print volume of 2,000 pages as recommended.

The standard interfaces of the printer are Ethernet, near field communication (NFC), USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct. NFC and Wi-Fi direct are peer-to-peer network protocols for connecting smartphones to the printer without Ethernet or it being connected to an intermediary network or router. Mobile connectivity and these two peer-to-peer protocols are extensive. Third-party solutions like Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Mopria, or you can connect any mobile device directly to the printer with Brother’s iPrint&Scan.

The Web Connect cloud services of Brother enables you to connect straight to both personal and business iterations of Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, OneDrive, and OneNote. Other Brother cloud apps that are included are Office Print (for printing from phones and 365 versions of Microsoft Office), Scan to Office (for scanning to phones and online versions of Microsoft Office), Scan to Mobile, Cloud Secure Print, and Easy Scan to Email. Apart from this one can always go the old method of scanning to and printing from a USB thumb drive through the port on the left of the chassis.

MFC-J6945DW offers excellent text for an inkjet, fair graphics, and impressive photos, especially for a four-ink business model when compared with a five- or six-ink photo printer.

This AIO’s text output is quite as good enough for all business applications. Graphics are printed with solid fills and gradients which flow evenly from one colour to the next. Additionally, the MFC-J6945DW provides borderless output up to letter-size, that allows you to print documents and images which look like they have been designed professionally and reproduced.
